Cowgirl Gift Ideas

What gift do you buy for the special Cowgirl in your life?

I will write from a personal view of some of my favourites gifts I have either received or would like to receive, Now there is a not so subtle hint!

Horse DVD's either Training or Fiction are right up there on the gift list, great for those wet days when your outside adventures are on hold.

Some of my personal fictional collection include:"McLeod's Daughters" - {DVD} Drover's Run is a large cattle property 180km from the nearest town and 400km from the city. It has been in the McLeod family for generations, passed down from father to son...and now to daughter.

"Dreamer" - {DVD} by John Gatins. Inspired by a True Story” tells the story of a father who, for the love of his daughter, sacrifices almost everything to save the life of an injured racehorse and bring the promising filly back to her former glory.
"Flicka" - by Michael Mayer {DVD} Set amidst spectacular mountain vistas, this inspiring, coming-of-age story features an all-star cast, including country music star Tim McGraw, Maria Bello and Alison Lohman. A beautiful story that every cowgirl would love!
"Man From Snowy River" - by George Miller. An all Australian classic comes alive like never before. One of the best loved and most successful Australian films ever made has now been painstakingly, digitally restored by producer Geoff Burrowes for it's inaugural unveiling on DVD

"Basic Body Control" - Stacey Westfall. Learn to control individual areas of your horses body while under saddle. In this DVD, Stacy teaches basic body control exercises that all horses and riders should master. Specific exercises are explained including one that Stacy uses from the beginning training all the way to her bridleless riding. Tips for breaking old habits in riders are included among the instructions for training your horse. These exercises will help build a solid relationship by gaining control of the horse’s movements while instilling trust under saddle. Multiple lessons using horses with varying levels of training. Mastering these lessons will help keep you safe under saddle and will serve as the foundation for more advanced work.

Guy McLean is an accomplished, self taught, thinking horseman. Through a complete love of horses and a burning desire to "find better ways" of building relationships with horses, not having to use force, instead, 'asking' them to do the job as a partner, Guy has developed his own training methods, trying something new every day as a new personality poses new problems to work through. His collection of DVDs show his methods and help you achieve the same results with your horse click here to view the collection

"The Basics" - Steve Brady. Discover effective ways to: Control the front and back end of your horse, control and relax your horse using only one rein, ride circles, understand the footfalls of the gaits, teach the back up, get a soft feel in the reins, speed up, slow down and stop with two reins, plus much more.
The Trail Riding Series - Training From The Heart - John Lyons. Repackaged in 2006, this collection offers a broad overview of topics including ground work, riding and performance segments. “Ground Work” segments cover issues relating to ground behavior; “Riding” for cues, exercises, and manners from the horse’s back; and “Performance” segments for some advanced cues, maneuvers and rein control.
